This last post of Season 1 actually is a continuation of the previous one. This post is for the person who doesn’t know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Perhaps you have been reading the Bible and feel Christ calling you.  Perhaps others have planted seeds in your life, and the Holy Spirt is calling you to fruition.  Or perhaps you identify most with the lost sheep or the sinner in need of forgiveness we read about in God’s Word.

Whatever situation you are in, please turn to the same chapter we looked at before, and read Paul’s words at 2 Cor. 5:20-21:

“We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  For our sake He made Him to be sin, who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

In other words, Jesus paid it all.  Jesus is the way to be reconciled to God.  The only way.

Someone might read this and want to speak further about your relationship with Christ.  If you are that person, you are welcome to reach out to me through Facebook and feel free to use Messenger.

May God’s blessings shine upon you.

Fifteen to twenty years after the events of the Gospels, the apostle Paul planted a church in Corinth, Greece.  A few years after the church was planted, Paul wrote letters to the people there, wanting to help these Christians he loved so much stay on the narrow path.  In the second letter to this church at Corinth, Paul explained his motivations, writing:

“For the love of Christ controls us.  For we have concluded that one has died for all, therefore all have died.  And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for their sake.”

(2 Cor. 5:14-15).

This is our calling once Jesus has saved us:  to live for Him, not for self.  It is a high calling, and a person lacks even a whiff of a chance of accomplishing this on their own.  It was true of the apostles, and it's true for us. Only through the help and the power of the Holy Spirit can we live as we are called.

My prayer:  Our Father, may all who read this know your Son as their personal Lord and Savior before they leave this earth.  Please guide us in your Holy Spirit, that we may do your will by living for Jesus and by reflecting your light to the world to bring glory to You.

This is the 7th and final module for Season 1 of Observing the Good News.  This module will have 3 posts, making Season 1 a total of 50 posts.

One of the overarching ideas from Season 1 has been:

  • the universal need we have for forgiveness of our sins and salvation from the terrible eternal consequences of our sins;

  • going all the way back to Adam and Eve, God had a plan to accomplish this.  His plan was accomplished in Jesus, who was in the nature of both God and human.  And it was accomplished through supreme sacrifice on the part of our Lord and Savior.

It fills us with gratitude to know this!

Our gratitude is amplified when we consider all of this was written down before the passing of the generation living at the time of Jesus.   God saw to it that through the actions of human beings, reliable copies of these manuscripts were preserved.  We have the copy and the translations to this day.

Considering this, we ask ourselves:  what is our response?

The next two posts (the last ones of Season 1) will look at this question.
